I am a member of a Police Football Team and this story of Gerry is truly an inspiration. When it's tough to get up, or my legs are sore from camp, I remember the story of Gerry Bertier. What a great man...I'm glad to see his legacy is still alive.

Admin reply: When i'm sore and don't want to go to the gym, I remember my brother and stop complaining about being sore and just go.

I love the movie Remember the Titans, so I looked up the true story. It must be quite incredible to know any of these men. The reason why these men were and still are such an inspiration is because of the human spirit that dwelled so deeply in them. Gerry's story is amazing and his life was full of spirit, love and strength. I would've liked to have known him, maybe one day I will get the chance. Amazing. Utterly Amazing.

I just watched "Remember The Titans" this evening for the first time.As a child I lived in the Hamlet West Apts (Alexandria, Va) when from 1960 -1964. There was a boy that lived in the same building that I used to play with as a child named Gerry Bertier. Since we were the same age we used to spend alot of time together as kids but we lost track of each other when I moved to Maryland. His parents were divorced and his mother's name was Jean. Is this the same Gerry? If it is, I would like very much to get in contact with his mother.

Admin reply: You may contact me at Titans42@hotmail.com and explain the situation so that I may pass along the word.

Respectfully, Becky Britt

I am one of the three police officers that worked an overtime assignment in Richmond , Virginia on July 19 , 2008 that raised money for The Gerry Bertier #42 Foundation. I enjoyed meeting some of the players and Gerry's mother. Gerry's memory will live forever through this foundation. What a great way to honor a great man.

Admin reply: It was great meeting you all, Becky (Gerrys sister)

Hello,

I attended Bishop Ireton High School, just a few miles away in 1974-78. We always had TC Williams on our schedule. The 1971 Titans and gerry B. were legendary.

Thanks, John

It's a blessing to know that Gerry was a true champion in athletics and he's my M.V.P in life. Number # 42 was a star before Ronnie Lott of the SF 49ers held that number. Gerry rest in peace.

I feel truly blessed & honored to be a part of such a worthy cause. Because of Gerry's heartfelt determinination, his love of life, and his belief in what he could accomplish, he made enormous contributions to those affected with spinal cord injuries and obstacles. To know this young man must have been wonderful. To witness & feel the impact that he has made on people that never got the opportunity to meet him is INCREDIBLE!! Thank you for letting me be a part of this amazing journey. It has been a pleasure meeting & working with his family & friends.
