When I first moved to Va in the early '60's I met Gerry at the Hamlet West Apts where he then lived. We played and rode bikes together with all the other neighborhood kids. I remember him as one who always liked to have fun.

I saw the movie 'Remember the Titans' and I am deeply touched especially by Gerry for his attitude towards his black teamates and his fighting spirit. I believe if Gerry Bertier is alive today, he would not only be a great American football star but also a GREAT human being. May there be more like him!

Gerry is such an inspiration. Football is a religion in America, and Gerry is the heart of high school football.

Gerry's story is such an inspiration. I shared this movie with my step-kids when they were little. And now my younger ones are old enough to understand and be moved by it's message. The movie is wonderful, but it's the story of personal growth and strength of character,of loyalty and perseverence over adversity that matters. It is truly a gift to all of us. Reading the story on the website and watching the movie reminds me that we can be strong, do the right thing and continue to grow throughout our lives.

Gerry is an inspiration that proves no matter what anyone can face adversity. I have watched Remember the Titans several times and this time I am watching it for a Organizational Behavior class, so I have really watched this in a analytic mode. What I see is a terrific group of men that set an example for the world to see and follow. They faced roadblocks and adversity dealing with something that is preconceived-prejudice. The fear of the unknown. They showed all of us thet nothing is to be feared as long as you get to know it and understand it. God Bless the Titans!
